Teresa Marie is an emerging Vancouver-based Jazz and R&B vocalist who holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Studies from Capilano University. She is an experienced performer who has played in some of the most prominant venues around the city such as Water St. Cafe, Frankie’s Jazz Club, and the Shadbolt Centre of the Arts. Teresa takes inspiration from a variety of iconic musicians like Ella Fitzgerald and Etta James and remains passionate about paying homage to the Black American Music tradition. With a mother born in Trinidad and Tobago and a father born in Peru (with Chinese roots), Teresa’s identity is uncommon in the world of Jazz yet is a quintessential Canadian story. In her group, Teresa Marie and the Three, she performs a mix of her own imaginative arrangements of Jazz standards, original compositions, and poetry.
